Working with hit songwriter James Warren

Today I wrote and recorded a song with hit songwriter, the great James Warren of The Korgis.

James (with Andy Davis) performed "If I Had You" (a lovely ballad) and wrote "Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime", a massive worldwide hit that has been covered and recorded many times by people like... Yazz, Erasure and most notably by Beck for the Jim Carrey film 'Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind'.

It's great to see James and The Korgis on episodes of Top Of The Pops 2 on BBC 2 and various music programmes on BBC 4 on a regular basis. It's a songwriters dream to have songs that supersede themselves, to take on their own form, to become an almost separate entity to be enjoyed by millions of people. James is one of the few to achieve this.

We had a great day with Al Steele at the helm today (at Shabbey Rd studios) and the song is really taking shape. More to come on this soon. I think we have the beginnings of a great Pop/Ballad.

In the meantime... you can catch The Korgis featuring James Warren (with Al Steele in the band too) at The Globe, Cardiff on Sat 20th July.
